FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

Please bring any current medications your pet is taking and advise our staff of your pet’s condition(s) and medical needs. You will have the added benefit of knowing that if your animal experiences any illness while you’re away, it will be promptly and competently addressed by one of our clinicians. You may bring your own food or we can feed your pet our Science Diet Sensitive Stomach formula. It is not necessary to bring anything else. Harpeth Hills Animal Hospital is fully equipped with leads, bowls and bedding.

WHAT VACCINES DO MY PETS NEED FOR BOARDING?

Dogs are required to have had a Bordetella (for influenza or kennel cough) booster within 6 months of boarding. Also required are a rabies vaccination and a DHLPP booster each year. Cats are required to have the rabies vaccine, Feline Leukemia vaccination and the FVRCP booster each year. We strongly recommend that any needed vaccines be given at least 48 hrs prior to boarding. Of course we will be glad to update any vaccinations your pet may need.

CAN MY PETS STAY TOGETHER?

We do have large kennel runs and spacious cage enclosures that may accommodate certain canine or feline siblings. Please ask us if the opportunity exists when making a reservation.

WHAT IF MY PET GETS SICK?

A doctor will check your pet and if warranted, will treat the problem appropriately and continue to monitor. Your pet’s good health is our highest priority.

WILL MY DOG/CAT EXPERIENCE GROUP PLAY?

We do not offer group play due to the extreme differing personalities of our boarding patients. For the safety of all we offer walks on leashes with our friendly staff inside of our totally enclosed, secure fenced-in back and side yards for dogs. Cats can receive individual, personalized play time with an attendant in an exam room.

CAN I REQUEST A TIME TO PICK UP MY PET?

Yes, we would be happy to set a pick up appointment time to expedite your departure with us. Please let us know either when you drop off your pet or call us a day in advance so that we can be sure that your pet has had any and all services (i.e. medications, feedings, walks, bath, etc.) before your pick up time.

WHAT TIMES CAN I DROP OFF OR PICK UP MY PET?

Weekdays, boarders can be dropped off from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. On Saturdays, drop off is between 8 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. There is no pick up or drop off on Sundays.

Should pets need vaccinations for their stay with us, we ask that they be dropped off no later than 10:00 a.m.

Pick-up for boarding pets begins at 9:00 a.m. This insures that your pet has had the time to be walked, eaten his/her breakfast and gives our kennel attendants time to freshen up your pet, should it be needed.

Pets scheduled for bathing need time to dry; pick-up is between 3:00 and 5:50 p.m. weekdays. On Saturday, pick-up time for bathed pets is 12:30 p.m.; unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the pet will be fully dried. If you prefer, your pet can be bathed the day before the actual departure date.
